Welcome to Lit & Lang 12's blog! Below are a couple of satire articles that I would like you to respond to.  Use your myprowler account to post thoughtful comments about each article (post twice--once for each article and make it clear which article you are responding to). Your comments should address the following, be at least two sentences long, and need to be posted by the beginning of class on Thursday:

  • How do you know this article is satire?
  • How does the author make it seem like the article is "real"?
  • Any general thoughts about the articles

  1. In the first article I don't believe eating at fancy restaurants is the cause of the financial crisis. He does have it right that credit cards are a major problem for some people but not the main reason. And the sewage idea is just stupid because there is no possible way that could fix the economy.

  2. The first article seemed a bit ridiculous because his overall plan wouldn't work, the plan wouldn't work and doesn't seem accurate at all. You can't do all that and actual believe you can come out of it clean.

  3. After reading the second article I just chuckled, kids are kids. They don't have anything to live for like adults they are just young wild and free. Adults have kids that they have to raise, bills to pay, relationships to keep good. Kids have so much to do before they grow up and become responsible they aren't psychopaths. stupid

  4. What they are trying to say is that children are not evil and people should not worrier about everything.
It did seem like it was really by how it looked like a doctor wrote this. I think that kids do dumb things when there young and people shouldn't worrier too much.

  5. My opinions have not changed since after class. Satire is supposed to be funny but some people may take it the wrong way.

  6. I know the Financial Crisis article is satire, because he talks about his idea, but he does not seriously want everyone to go out and do it. He makes it seems "real" by describing his plan in detail, and giving many examples of how it will benefit people.

  7. The Sociopath Children article is satire, because it describes nearly every child as a sociopath, when that is clearly not possible. The article uses many quotes from reliable sounding people to make it seem "real". It also uses many large, descriptive words to make the author seem like he knows exactly what he's talking about.

  8. The Financial Satire is satire because he is using humor and exaggeration to show what not to do. Eric made it seem real by saying that he was going to do it.

  9. In Sociopath Children it is satire because it is pretty much saying kids are crazy and it isn't normal to act that way to get what you want when it really is normal. The author makes it seem real by using doctors names and saying that they said something.
